munich, 1943. while hitler's war devastates europe, a group of courageous young university students decide to rebel against nazism and its inhuman war machine. thus was born the 'white rose', a movement of resistance to the third reich. sophie scholl is the only woman who joins the group; a girl like any other, that time matures into a bold and committed fighter. on february 18, 1943, sophie and her brother hans were discovered and arrested distributing flyers at the university. in the following days, the questioning of sophie by mohr, a gestapo official, turns into a strenuous psychological duel. the girl lies and denies, uses strategies and provocations, seems to give up and recovers with renewed strength, coming almost to disarm her opponent. the overwhelming evidence, the confession, and the last desperate attempt to protect the brother and the companions of the white rose. impressed by his extraordinary courage, mohr offers her a way out, but at a cost: betraying his ideals. sophie refuses the offer: 'not only did i do it. but i'm proud to have done it. "
