studente al college di ithaca, a new york, josh, da sempre fidanzato con la stessa ragazza, tiffany, riprende con una videocamera la sua unica notte d'amore con beth. il giorno dopo scopre che uno dei suoi amici ha spedito per sbaglio la videocassetta del tradimento a tiffany, che studia ad austin, in texas. nel disperato tentativo di recuperare le scottanti immagini, josh e i suoi amici sfrecciano attraverso gli stati uniti diretti a sud. ma anche beth ha deciso di andare a trovare tiffany.
