The Little World of Don Camillo (1952)

don camillo, a priest as friendly as he is irascible and peppone, a combative, surly communist mayor, is fighting in a small village in the lower po valley. the priest, for his character must undergo the frequent reproaches of the crucifix; the politician, although professed an atheist, is actually deeply attached to the catholic sacraments and the two, although they are publicly rivals, in reality they esteem and want each other well, even if they do not want to admit it. don camillo tries to carry out the work for a 'villaggio del fanciullo' while peppone undertakes to build the 'casa del popolo'; they do everything to hinder themselves and they succeed, so much so that in the end the priest is transferred elsewhere.
