salfold, england, 1971. george khan, a proud pakistani owner of a fish & chip shop, is married to english ella and has seven children who have nicknamed him genghis khan for his inflexible loyalty to traditional muslim values. the boys, who feel british in every respect, do nothing but give him disappointments. after the failure of the marriage of nazir, who abandoned the altar to attempt a career as a stylist, george wants to put up his eldest children by combining marriages with the daughters of mr. shah, who owns a butcher and a large property in bradford. but the kids have other plans for their future. and the mother will end up supporting them.
